Alfa Romeo" cup model 13003. Heavy frosted glass with the Alfa Romeo brand marked on the foot. Designed by Flavio Poli for Seguso Vetri d'Arte, Murano Circa 1961 Dim. H: 18.5 cm x W: 18.5 cm Designer, businessman, ceramist. Born in Chioggia, he attended the Istituto d'Arte di Venezia and began working as a ceramic designer. In 1929, he switched to glass, designing animals and splendid Novecento-style nude figures in massiccio glass for Libero Vitali's I.V.A.M., as well as bowls and urns with figures resting inside, on the lids or as handles. He then collaborated with Compagnia di Venezia e Murano, with Mario and Lino Nason's kiln and with the engraver Gino Francesconi. In 1934, he accepted the artistic direction of Barovier, Seguso & Ferro, which later became Seguso Vetri d'Arte, becoming a partner three years later. Together with the master of the main team, Archimede Seguso, Poli created grandiose light installations, corroded vessels, sculptures in bulicante glass and hot-formed animals in massiccio glass, productions that represent a milestone in the development of Murano glass. At the peak of his artistic maturity, between 1950 and 1960, he designed a series of Nordic-style sommerso glass pieces, with their essential shapes and cold, sharp colors, which received prestigious awards (Compasso d'Oro). After leaving Seguso in 1963, between 1964 and 1966 he organized the artistic glass division at the Societˆ Veneziana di Conterie e Cristallerie.
