Monkey Bird, Anagogy, 2021, Lithograph, 52 x 52.5 cm, Work signed. Created in 2012, the Monkey Bird Crew (MBC) is formed by two young artists who met on the benches of the School of Visual Art Créasud in Bordeaux. Témor, passionate about design and graffiti artist, and Blow, poet, lover of illustration and graphic design. Stencil artists known for the precision of their line and the fineness of the cut, entirely handmade, they are specialized in the representations of metaphysical architectures where the Bird ("Blow") and the Monkey ("Temor") cohabit. "We started with the idea that birds are free, and monkeys are skilled." Indeed, since the beginning, both artists have their own animal. Between symbol and ethology, Blow, represents the communication of the group: a discreet night bird and adept of poetry and artistic philosophies. Like the monkey, Témor is a resourceful perfectionist who combines humor and wit. Inspired by treatises on geometry, mechanics, cosmology and astronomy, he declines their work using all sorts of mediums and supports, also using illumination and calligraphy. Moreover, they are obsessed with reintroducing an animal presence on city walls. These animals, not so different from those present in the famous fables of La Fontaine, mischievously refer us to our own human preoccupations, halfway between the desire for freedom and elevation and the material and bodily obsessions from which man cannot free himself. "We want to propose a literary reading of the image! Monkey Bird is the whole of an alchemy of our two thoughts, a link of the spirit to the matter. It is still a mockery as in the beginning, with the technique refined today." If they invest the walls of cities (Paris where they live, Lille, Bordeaux but also Amsterdam, New Delhi and several cities in Mexico), they also produce works on different supports of recovery (wood, metal, glass) and on paper.
